This fabulous kitchen started out as an ordinary vanilla, tract home ,90’s kitchen – white washed cabinets, tile countertops and white appliances. After reviewing some of the preferences and options with the Client, we decided to play up the SouthWest style of the home’s exterior architecture and the bold feeling of the rock waterfall pool that this kitchen overlooks. Rustic Alder cabinets in a rich honey finish are adorned with spectacular Rain Forest marble tops, stainless steel appliances and intricate tile work. No less than 6 tiles are installed into a Zigarat inspired back splash that includes herringbone tumbled Rain Forest marble, raku metal 2×2″ inserts, round amber glass tiles, tumbled gold Naranja travertine, hand made glass tiles, and dark terra cotta field tile. To complete the transition to a warm SW style – peeled posts are added to the ceiling and penninsula, large multicolored slate adds color and texture to the floors and a colorful print valance hangs over the copper farmhouse sink. Leftover tile was used to jazz up the simple white stucco fireplace surround along with a new wood mantle. Cool mosaic glass lights brighten up the space and illuminate the new rustic dining set with coordinating bold fabrics.
